We are deeply honored to announce that Serendipittys Sanctuary of Hope has been selected as a grant recipient by / received a very generous donation from the Donald E. Fike Family Foundation for the third consecutive year!
Securing multi-year foundational support is a vital milestone for any grassroots non-profit. For our all-volunteer special needs, animal welfare organization in Galesburg, Illinois, this grant / generous donation guarantees that we can sustain critical medical treatments, surgeries, and life long medications for our sanctuary animals; provide community spay/neuter initiatives including outreach and intervention resources to keep pets and families together (temporary fostering, pet sitting, training and socialization); and continue vital rescue operations for our most vulnerable companion animals. This continued funding is a lifeline that allows our all-volunteer team to stand by these extraordinary animals through every chapter of their lives.
Because of the Fike Family Foundation’s steady support over the last three years, we can honor the past, celebrate the present, and protect the future:
We honor Doo’s legacy. Our beautiful boy recently crossed the rainbow bridge after a brave fight against epilepsy and megaesophagus. This grant directly funded the intensive veterinary care, specialized medications, and upright Bailey chair + feedings that gave Doo a life filled with comfort, dignity, and absolute love.
We celebrate Cooper’s triumph! Pulling Cooper—a black lab—from Anti-Cruelty in his final hour on death row was just the beginning. It took 3 years of intense rehabilitation, dedicated training, and deep socialization at our sanctuary, but we did it. Cooper was successfully adopted into a beautiful, loving forever family and home!
We protect Grandpa Smooshy. Known affectionately as our "grumpy kitty," Smooshy came to us this year as a senior hospice resident. He is part of an active animal welfare neglect case from McDonough County. Because active neglect cases can take years to resolve in the legal system, these animals cannot be adopted. They require a permanent, safe sanctuary to heal. Smooshy has found exactly that with us.
To the Fike Family: Thank you for standing by us, believing in our mission, and ensuring that no special-needs, neglected, or forgotten animal is ever left behind.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the board and organizers of the Donald E. Fike Family Foundation. Their commitment to local human services and philanthropy ensures that impactful community organizations can continue to thrive and expand their reach.
